Why do people lose faith in god

A person can pray and meditate, but their inner attitude while praying and meditating will determine whether they strengthen their connection and faith with God or not. This is between the individual and God. What you can do is develop the right attitude yourself. When a loved one dies, it brings deep grief that can cause anger, and one has a hard time forgiving God for taking away the person one loved.

Other reasons can be, loss of our material possessions, in which we sometimes try to find our security in this world. When our karma hits with great tests, when natural disasters occur fire, floods, earthquakes , some people lose faith. The most important preventive measure is to love God, practice daily meditation, with right attitudes of sincerity, humility, self-offering, and devotion.

The daily practice of meditation will gradually dissolve the veils that separate us from God, until we attain final liberation. Here is an article by Paramhansa Yogananda that conveys the qualities that we can develop, to attain the final union with God: Godly Qualities: A Roadmap to Inner Freedom. I feel an almost pathological contempt for christians and would like to know….

In a recent message I shared with the Erickson Covenant Church , I explored 10 reasons people have walked away from Jesus. They were either the primary reasons, or they created the conditions which resulted in them walking away. Like a boat with no oars, no sail and no motor, they end up somewhere far away.

Perhaps they had embraced a basic faith in Jesus, but without intentional community, without incorporating spiritual practices, without choosing to follow Jesus, they ended up drifting away. And finally, we can be deceived.

We believe a lie about who Jesus is and what life is all about; we come under spiritual influences that cloud our minds. We listen to a buddy at work or a brother we respect, and our faith is quelled; we read a compelling book or watch a viral video, and the argument presented seems so persuasive.

Without ever exploring valid alternatives, we accept a lie and faith is dislodged. There is an enemy, and he seeks to deceive and devour. What do you think? No matter what comes…. No matter shakes or tries to bring you down…. There are many places that we can turn and the Adversary the Devil is just waiting for us to follow his ways…. I learned that though the toughest things come… I hang on…. We will make it! Good words of encouragement! Thanks for your reminder!

Sorry Tom, I thought I was speaking to many people out there …. I loved this comment. A lot of things happened all at once that absolutely none of my talking points convincingly hand-waved away. I think typically Christians constantly face contradictions of their beliefs from reality — again, none of those beliefs are based in reality — but their indoctrinations hand-wave them away before they get too serious. But if enough happens at once, then the hand-waving looks just as silly and foolish as it really is.

Suddenly our beliefs snap into focus and we see things we can never un-see again. We do all the things our leaders tell us to do: we read the Bible, we cry out to Jesus, blah blah blah. None of it works. We can never un-see. And then I see hateful, smug, self-congratulatory virtue signals like this, and I think to myself how happy I am to have left such a toxic tribe.

As long as you and other Christians think that deconversion only happens to fake or weak Christians, your decline will continue — and your credibility will only continue to suffer. You need to grapple with the very serious contradictions to your beliefs offered by reality constantly. Until you accept that reality absolutely does not cooperate with your beliefs, nothing will change. Worse, you sound hateful toward ex-Christians.

We know you, and we know why you act like this. It does not make your faith look strong. It makes it look very, very weak and fragile.

That does not speak well of you or your faith. Please think about this, next time you feel the need to shoot off your big mouth about a group you know nothing about, okay? Many have had true faith yet serious troubles can easily capsize your boat. How bout if your child or grandchild was abducted, raped and murdered? There are plenty of horrible things that could hit you and sink your faith. You think not? Sometimes the burdens of life are unbearable. What to do when you are struggling with your faith?

How do you gain faith in God again? What Bible says about struggles? How can I get my faith back in God? What do you do when you lack faith? What do you do when you lose faith in God? What to do when you lose faith in God? Get Godly council. Trust the system.
