He did this in 11 years. For all of his struggles and missteps, Eisner still steadied Disney, preventing it from being purchased from a larger conglomerate, one that would have ruined the brand. When David's not at Walt Disney World, he's writing about movies and box office analysis, economics, streaming media, technology, travel, and parks and recreation. He's the author of the Disney Demystified and Behind the Ride book series.
Entertainment Cast members dislike him too because he said monkeys could do our jobs. As an entertainment cast member that made us angry. People on this site love Disney theme parks, and yet a decent amount hate what Michael Eisner did for not just Disney theme parks, but Disney.
Eisner loved the theme parks and always wanted to improve them and expand them. So, let's just take a minute to see what Eisner did for the parks Under Eisner, Disney grew from 3 to 5 resorts, and the amount of Disney parks went from 4 theme parks to the current 11 theme parks and 2 water parks.
Eisner also proposed a couple of other parks that were rejected. When Eisner took over in , Disney was in terrible shape and could have been been bought by another company.
DL also was having problems. Yes, Eisner made some mistakes, such as the hiring of Paul Pressler, but nobody is perfect. Some mistakes will be made. And yes, I realize that Frank Wells also played a big role, but nobody complains about him. So what are your thoughts. Tags: dca , dhs , dlp , michael eisner , wds. Comment Post Cancel. Uncle Bob. I think he did appreciate the parks and saw himself as a creative person and in some ways he is.
But he made one huge mistake with DLP that plagued the rest of his theme park legacy. They way over built on the hotels and made a poor choice on the location. I think southern France, Spain or Italy would have drawn more multi-day tourists right away. That caused most of the next decade to be fixing things rather then really growing. Dream Warrior. And the team worked because of what both men brought to it.
Unfortunately, Wells passed on, they gave nearly complete power to Eisner, and he still needed that balance, and didn't have it. They hate that the parks cannot afford to be opening a new e-ticket every year. They hate that the parks cannot be run the way they expect them to and they blame Eisner for that. But it has nothing to do with Eisner. Re: Why do People Hate Michael Eisner People hate Michael Eisner because he saved the company by ripping open its chest and feasting upon its soul and various innards.
Once Wells was gone, Eisner was given more power than he could handle and basically went crazy. We entered the park, my wife said that she's just had enough with the rude cast members, unfortunately most are simply employees now, we turned right around and left.
As far as she's concerned, until things change at this company, we will no longer be visiting. We've had so many incredibly rude cast members the past several months that it's staggering.
To frame the concept even more, we're beach dwellers, extremely laid back, easygoing, so I can atest to you that things are a changin' and not for the good over there. BTW-Why we were even going to Epcot should have been the first question. It was after 7 and barely anything is open at that time Unless you like to shop or eat a their dining establishments. We're going to be sending a letter to the company about our rather lousy experiences the past few months.
We are realists that for the mostpart, they could care less about what the "guest" says anylonger, but at least we'll feel better having gotten it off our chests. Damn your eyes Addison could make quite a thing of it - imagine how snide and vicious he could get and still tell nothing but the truth.
I was hoping for a more indepth discussion than a volley of quotes, that people discuss the points or post their own points pro or con.
Perhaps I should post a few quotes by a man that has been an inspiration to me? Adults are only kids grown up, anyway. I don't believe in talking down to children. I don't believe in talking down to any certain segment. I like to kind of just talk in a general way to the audience. Children are always reaching. Something that I can keep developing We didn't go into Disneyland just with the idea of making money. And when we go into that new project, we believe in it all the way.
We have confidence in our ability to do it right. And we work hard to do the best possible job. I've been chastised I agree with the basic points of your post. However, imho, I think you're confusing the execution with the idea in a few cases. For example, rides being made into movies Most Disney classics are merely adaptations of other people's stories. So there's nothing wrong with making adaptations of your own stories.
The problem comes with their execution. Their execution on most movies has not been strong lately. But its not the basic ideas that are bad. Just as they could have made Reign of Fire better, they also could have made The Country Bears better.
If mgmt isn't going to attract and keep the resources necessary to produce consistently strong animated films, producing them less frequently won't make them any better. Its just a question of who is going to produce what the audience wants.
